22-Jul-06 For the second straight year, Max has taken the Gold Medal in the annual Charter Oak USFSA competition. All five judges put him solidly in first place. Max now looks ahead to the Little New England Championships to be held in September by the Providence and Pawtucket Figure Skating Association.
26-Jun-06 Max took the Silver Medal in the Open Juvenile division in the June 24 USFSA competition hosted by the Skating Club of Rye, NY.

15-Jan-06 Max has passed his Juvenile Freestyle Moves test. This is exciting because with his Juvenile tests behind him, Max can skate up to Intermediate level and compete in Regional, Sectional and National events!
24-Sep-05 Max skates to a Silver Medal finish at the Little New England Championships in Providence, Rhode Island!
09-Sep-05 Max has passed his pre-juvenile Moves and Freestyle tests, and is now eligible to skate in USFSA pre-juvenile and juvenile level competitions.
05-Aug-05 Max has added Elena Petrenko, choreographer and conditioning coach, to his team of trainers. Elena has done choreography for U.S. Pairs Champions Katie Orscher and Garrett Lucash. She is working with Max on flexibility and form, and after just a few days Max's skating shows the benefit!
23-Jul-05 MAX WINS GOLD MEDAL in the Charter Oak Open! Max skated to first place in the costume his mom made for him (her first try at costume making!). Max would next like to enter the Little New England Championships in Providence, Rhode Island, to be held the third week of September.
07-Jul-05 Max and his dad have moved in to their new Simsbury townhouse so Max can attend Simsbury High School this fall and get more ice time (before and after school). Wow - our place is next door to the rink!
15-Jan-05 Max's training coach Garrett Lucash and his partner Katie Orscher have won the U.S. National Gold Medal in pairs skating, and will be going to the world championships.
15-Oct-04 Max landed his first double Lutz today-- and then two more! (That leaves only the double Axel before moving on to triples.) Max is working out hard three days per week in a customized program to increase stamina and strengthen critical skating muscles. He is extraordinarily focused and goal-driven.
15-Aug-04 Max continues to skate five days per week and has begun to work out in a comprehensive conditioning program. New on his coaching team are 1994 World Champion Vadim Naumov, and US national medalist in pairs Garrett Lucash. This next year will be an important training year, and we're hoping for the best. Just take a look at his latest straight-line footwork sequence (many thanks to Ruslan).
08-Apr-04 With some help from his coach Carrie Dobek and from Steve Moore, skating director at ISCC, Max is now consistently landing good-looking double Salchows; and his double flip has become much more consistent. These breakthroughs have come so rapidly we're amazed and excited.
28-Mar-04 Max's style teacher Ruslan Goncharov and his partner Elena Grushina finish fourth in the Ice Dance competition at the World Figure Skating Championships in Dortmund, Germany. See picture1 and picture2! Wow! To be one of the top four teams in the world is quite an honor!
18-Jan-04 Max passes his USFSA Preliminary Moves and Freestyle tests. He'll be competing on the Preliminary level for now, in a 1:30 program including an Axel and two different double jumps.
